Welcome…

My name is Matthew Yeomans and I have over 30 years’ experience as a writer, author, editorial director and executive coach. The stories I’ve told and the strategies I’ve crafted have helped shape the narrative of leading companies, media brands and organisations – helping them  effectively communicate with their most important audiences.

My clients trust me because they can see the quality of my writing in my own published works – I’m the author of six books including Seascape: Notes from a Changing Coastline – and my own presentation skills demonstrated through my podcasts, media work and public speaking.

Since 2010, I have worked as a thought leadership writer for leading consultancies and companies in the UK and the US and have coached more than a thousand senior executives in presentation, media and crisis communication skills. I run this client work as Executive Nature.

I also run Tramping, a site dedicated to walking and exploring Wales and beyond.

I started my career working in New York media and communications in the 1990s. There I learned the power of quality research, reporting and writing as a journalist for many leading publications including Wired, The New York Times, The Industry Standard and The Village Voice. I was an early adopter of digital communications – developing the content strategy for one of the first US media websites back in 1996 and editing an online news operation for a major technology publication.

It was also during my years working as a journalist that I would develop an expertise in energy and sustainability issues – and how to communicate them. My first book, Oil: Anatomy of an Industry, explored how oil influences every part of our daily lives. Since then I’ve created a digital platform devoted to sustainability communication and I’ve written another book – Trust Inc. – that documents the importance of sustainability comms that focus on authenticity, creativity and transparency.

Since the early 2000s I’ve been advising companies and other organisations on content strategy as the growth of digital media made everyone a publisher. I co-founded the UK’s first social media conference for business – Social Media Influence – and I launched one of the UK’s first social media agencies – Radar DDB. During that time I have created editorial strategies for the energy, fintech, food,  technology and travel sectors.

As well as being a writer and public speaker I’ve created and curated conferences, developed media platforms, research services and lectured at a number of universities including New York University and Cardiff University School of Journalism.
